New Book - In the Lion's Court

The Arkhein: In the Lion's Court, Part 1The Arkhein: In the Lion's Court, Part 1 by Elizabeth D. Marie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hello everyone! Thanks for taking a look at my new book, In the Lion's Court! If you're looking for more dystopian-style worlds to explore (I know I am!) this is for you. Taking place in an alternative-history, America is divided into protectorates and its industrial colonies are surrounded by poisoned "wasted lands", with travel between only by train and at the will of the Sanctioned. Seventeen-year-old Galilea is chosen through Legere to enter Arkhein, a competition with other seventeen year olds at Quentrell Palace for the right to rule as the new Monarch... To be the new face of the Empire. With only three years since the last Monarch was crowned, no one in the colonies was expecting this. The palace is full of secrets, and madness stalks the halls at night.

I wanted you to be aware that The Arkhein is being offered for FREE often, and for limited amounts of time, so check in on Amazon and grab this freebie while you can. :)

Prepping for November

October is NaNoWriMo Prep Month!

Yep, it's that time of year again and I am busy prepping for the start of my next book. I have a "first draft" book blurb completed (okay, not a priority but it was a good exercise to get me focused on the heart of what this next story is about... an introduction, if you will). Now, character profiles are dancing through my head with glee, storyline is falling and tumbling through my brain like an advanced game of Tetris, and I cannot quite decide if I can't wait till November starts or if I desperately want another month or two to prepare.

As I finish up Chasing Cinders, envision wrapping the manuscript in a big red bow, and celebrating its completion with a...hmm. I don't know. Maybe a nice long nap. Or a trip to the bookstore with a bag of cash for all the books I still haven't read yet. Okay, now I'm just dreaming. Anyway, as I near that victory, I have been getting ready for book 3 in the Crown of Stars series (which takes place during the same time as the events in Chasing Cinders).

For those of you familiar with my Captain Thorne of the SS Daring series, I am particularly excited to return to writing about life on the high seas... this time, in the medieval-fantasy kingdom of Asteriae and the Four Islands. Crown of Stars book 3 reintroduces Master Jariel Easton from Saving Beauty, and follows a dangerous quest for wealth and fame. The risk is great, the cost is greater, and the enemies are closing in fast.

That's all I have to say about it for now. Be looking for updates on Chasing Cinders, book 2! Extended excerpt available soon! (I will post the link here on my blog). For now, it's back to editing I go!
